Characters - Mister Monday

ArthurArthur Penhaligon is the hero and Rightful Heir to the Keys to the Kingdom. Everything he thinks he knows - about his parents, his town and his life - is about to change. Once he inherits the key to a strange and dangerous house, there’s no going back. He will have to summon up courage he doesn’t know he has, and risk everything he loves, in order to unlock the secrets of the world he finds.

 

Mister MondayMister Monday is responsible for administration of the Lower House and controls everything that happens on any given Monday. He was a keeper of the Key and its powers for ten thousand years and will stop at nothing in order to get it back. Even without the Key, Mister Monday can summon powers both sinister and severe. His servants are everywhere -- and they are all on Arthur's trail.

 

FetcherFetchers are the servants of Mister Monday and it is their mission to claim the Key back from Arthur. They are dog-faced men in bowler hats who can’t cross thresholds uninvited. They melt under salt.

 

Suzy Turquoise BlueSuzy Turquoise Blue has been enlisted to help Arthur through the mysterious house. She looks younger than Arthur but, like many other Denizens of the House, has been there for thousands of years. A mere Ink-Filler in Sixth Class, she has limited access to the vast realms within the House, yet her courage and knowledge prove vital to Arthur's cause.

 

The WillThe Will was handwritten by the Architect and torn into seven fragments which were closely guarded by the Trustees. The Will can inhabit creatures or people and also communicates through swirling type that appears out of thin air. Now the Will needs Arthur’s help to put itself back together. It is the force that governs the House.

 

The Old One is the enemy of the Architect. He is a giant, chained to a clock in the Deep Coal Cellar of the House. No one knows why or how but he is trapped in a painful and depressing existence. At first Arthur fears him, but later learns to trust him and the Old One gives him knowledge that will save his life.
